Largest holdings in Q1 2026, sized by their share of the disclosed portfolio. This shows what is owned, not what changed.
Joel Greenblatt is closely associated with Gotham Asset Management. Cash, short positions, private investments, many derivatives, client allocations, and trades completed before quarter end may be absent.

Non-rejected, non-superseded SEC Form 13F filings for Gotham Asset Management, LLC provide the Q1 2026 holdings, disclosed values, and filing date shown here. WhoBought prefers filings whose value units validate and labels a sparse filing when validation is unavailable. Industry labels come from the local company classification record.
Performance uses daily closing prices for holdings with available market-price history. It covers the priced share of disclosed value (62%); holdings without sufficient price history are excluded from the calculation.
Joel Greenblatt is a value investor, writer, Columbia Business School adjunct professor, and co-manager of Gotham Asset Management with Robert Goldstein.
He started Gotham Capital in 1985 with $7 million. The fund concentrated on special situations such as corporate spinoffs and restructurings before returning outside investors' capital in 1995.
The method ranks companies on two ideas: buying businesses at a high earnings yield and favoring companies with a high return on invested capital. Greenblatt introduced it in The Little Book That Beats the Market.
Wikipedia reports a 50 percent annualized return from 1985 through 1994 after expenses but before the general partner's incentive allocation, or about 30 percent after all fees. Those are historical Gotham Capital figures, not the return of the current 13F holdings shown here.
Greenblatt and John Petry created it as a forum where approved members exchange value and special-situation ideas. Membership is capped at 250 people.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School in 1979 and an MBA in 1980. He later studied law at Stanford for one year before pursuing finance.
Yes. The current biography describes him as an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School.
Neither. They are Gotham Asset Management's disclosed 13F positions. The filing does not identify Greenblatt's personal account or say that every holding came from the public magic-formula screen.
His books explain the valuation methods. This page adds a separate view of Gotham's reported holdings and changes, but the delayed filing cannot reproduce the firm's long-and-short portfolios or its complete decision process.
